We 'The Treasure Hunters' discovered Hager's Treasure on our visit to the winery. Matthias is great in producing Rieslings and when we tasted this tank we were really taken by this orange Riesling, it tasted different, it intrigued us.
Wine: It has a cool aroma in the nose like hay and herbs (almost Marijuana-like). It evolves at every sniff and sip, at times you get some floral notes, then herbal ones and at times you feel some saltiness. It has many dimensions. Some timid but fine aromas of apricot and jasmine come through.
Label: beautifully designed by Matthias Bergsmann, represents the gorgeous wine cellar in Matthias' brother's cellar. The cellar is so fascinating as it is almost like a labyrinth, very humid and is covered in thick mould. It hides the most precious wines of the family!
Look closely to the label, can you spot a painting of a drunken deer? Local deers visit regularly the vineyards and Hager likes to leave some of the lowest bunches of grapes for them to feast on. Sharing is caring!
