Bertholdi sits on the throne of the red wine line of Gut Oggau. Without doubt, it’s one of the best natural red wines in Austria. The proud “grandfather” of the dynasty stems from a small patch of very old Blaufränkisch vines. The ancient method of tree press gives Bertholdi an especially deep and dark character. The complex peppery, meaty flavours might remind you of black olives.

Gut Oggau
Austrian Wine Pioneers
Stephanie and Eduard, the lovely young couple behind Gut Oggau, have restored a 17th century vineyard in Burgenland, Austria. The internationally acclaimed natural winemakers have quickly become famous for their dynasty, their bottles labelled with “the faces”. The juice which the three generations are shielding is no less remarkable: exciting, unfiltered natural cuvées!
